Type of knee support

There are many kinds of Knee Support, different types of knee support will meet different needs.

1.patella wrap type

This type of knee brace can completely cover the knee joint and provide a certain fixation and support for the entire knee joint. It can also control the slight swelling of the knee and warm the knee joint of arthritis patients.

Applicable people: Suitable for people with mild knee pain, difficulty in distinguishing the position of knee pain, or people with jogging and fast walking habits.

Note: It is not suitable for everyday wear, because the patella is completely covered. When the knee is bent more than 45 degrees, knee support sleeve limiting the free movement of the patella. Over time, it increases the chance of degeneration of knee and increases knee pain. Therefore, It is not suitable for people who often  go up and down stairs or squats.

2.patella pressure release type

This knee support is designed with an opening in the position of the patella, and a special thickening is performed at the opening. The design of the opening reduces the pressure of the kneepad to the patella to a certain extent, and at the same time, the patella can be better fixed to avoid frictional pain caused by excessive movement of the patella.

Applicable people: suitable for people with abnormal movement of the patella, pain at the back of the patella, difficulty in going up and down the stairs and frequent running. This type of knee brace can be worn in daily life because it does not compress the patella and restrict the bending motion of the knee joint.

3. girdle type

Also known as patellar compression band or patellar band, it is circular and fixed on the patellar tendon at the lower part of the patella. The encircling knee support  reduces the excessive involvement of the patellar tendon during exercise, so as to reduce the pain and get a proper rest of the patellar tendon, but this kind of kneepad has no protective effect on other parts of the knee joint. For people with ligament and meniscus injuries, such knee pads are not suitable.

Applicable people: it is suitable for patients with patellar tendinitis and pain under the knee, as well as those who often run, jump, participate in ball games or ride.

Note: There are many types of knee pads. Choose a suitable kneepad to protect your knees. In the choice of knee pads, it is necessary to combine the actual conditions and not to pursue excessive functionality. In general, the more functional knee pads, the better the protection and support effect, the greater the range of effects affecting exercise, and the longer it will affect the muscle exercise effect.
